Translation Box ("we", "our", "the app") is a language learning application. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

To provide you with a seamless experience and keep your learning progress safe, we automatically collect the following when you use the app:

• Device identifier — an anonymous device identifier used to associate your learning data with your device, so your progress is preserved. We do not store the original identifier.
• Device model (e.g., iPhone 15) and iOS version — to help us ensure compatibility and troubleshoot issues on your device.
• Screen dimensions — to optimize the app layout for your screen.
• Timezone — to schedule reminders and display streaks at the right time for you.

1.2 Approximate Location

We derive your country from your IP address for localization purposes. Your IP address is not stored.

1.3 Learning Data

We store data you create within the app:

• Words and translations you add or import
• Categories and language profiles you create
• Game statistics (accuracy, correct answers per round)
• Learning streaks and progress

1.4 User Preferences

• Notification settings (reminder frequency and preferred time)
• Game settings
• Theme preference (light/dark/system)
• Sound volume

1.5 Speech Data

If you use the speech-to-text feature, your audio is transcribed by Apple's Speech framework. Where your device and the chosen language support on-device recognition, the audio never leaves your device. Where they do not, Apple performs the transcription on its servers and the audio is handled under Apple's privacy policy. In either case the audio is never sent to our servers, and we do not record or store it.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and operate the app's core learning features
• Sync your learning progress across sessions
• Send optional reminder notifications (if you enable them)
• Monitor app stability and diagnose errors
• Learning content (words, translations, categories, game statistics, and other learning data) may also be used by us for any purpose beyond providing app functionality; when used outside the app, this content will not be associated with any specific user

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

We use the following service providers to operate the app:

• Logging provider — for application logging and error monitoring. Logs may contain technical event data (e.g., error messages, operation types) but do not contain your learning content or personal identifiers.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with encrypted connections. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.

Your account is anonymous — we do not require an email address, password, or any personally identifiable contact information.

5. Data Retention

Your learning data is retained as long as your account exists. Since accounts are tied to your device identifier, uninstalling the app and reinstalling on the same device will reconnect you to your existing data.

6. Your Rights

You may request deletion of all your data by contacting us at the email address below. Upon receiving your request, we will delete all data associated with your device identifier.

7. Children's Privacy

The app does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages and does not require any personal information to use.

8. Tracking

We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use any advertising, or tracking SDKs.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
